Round 1 of the 2026 NBA Draft is officially in the books, and somehow we're walking away feeling both excited as hell and just a little bit confused at the exact same time.

Let's start with the easy part.

When the Bulls selected Caleb Wilson with the fourth overall pick, nobody was shocked. Nobody spit out their drink. Nobody threw their phone. Nobody rushed to YouTube trying to figure out who the hell we had just drafted.

Wilson was the guy.

The entire city knew it.

Every mock draft knew it.

Every insider knew it.

Hell, I think my grandmother probably knew it.

And honestly? Bryson Graham deserves some credit for not getting cute.

Because let's be real for a second; we've watched previous Bulls front offices outsmart themselves enough times to last a lifetime. We all remember what happened the last time the Bulls had the fourth overall pick, right?

This time they took the obvious pick.

The right pick.

The smart pick.

And potentially the franchise-changing pick.

At 6-foot-10 with elite athleticism, defensive versatility and a skill set that screams "modern NBA," Wilson feels exactly like the type of player Chicago should be betting on.

He's explosive.

He's switchable.

He's long. Pause. 😂

And most importantly, the ceiling is ridiculous.

Nobody should be expecting him to average 25 points a game next season. Let's not start planning championship parades after Summer League.

But if you're asking whether Caleb Wilson has legitimate All-Star potential?

That answer is a resounding absolutely.

That's why Bulls fans should be excited.

Not because of who he is today.

Because of who he might become.

For the first time in a long time, it feels like the Bulls are taking a swing at upside instead of settling for safe. Or worse, doing some random shit that none of us understand.

And honestly?

That's refreshing.

Then Pick No. 15 Happened...

And that's when the group chats exploded.

Because the exact moment Adam Silver announced Dailyn Swain's name, approximately 95% of Bulls Twitter collectively said:

"Who the hell is that?"

Not because Swain is a bad player.

Not because he can't hoop.

But because almost nobody had him mocked to Chicago.

Most draft analysts had Baylor guard Cameron Carr projected to the Bulls if he was still available at No. 15.

Hell, WE had Cameron Carr.

Y'all don't know the struggle I went through trying to get ChatGPT to create the perfect Cameron Carr in a Bulls jersey graphic so I could hit "post" the second his name was called.

The fit made sense.

The value made sense.

The fan reaction would've made sense.

Everything pointed toward Cameron Carr.

Bryson Graham looked at all of that and basically said:

"Nah."

Insert Kevin Garnett shrug gif here.

Instead, he selected the versatile 6-foot-8 wing out of Texas and immediately sent Bulls fans scrambling to YouTube.

Now before we start acting like this was some terrible "same ol' Bulls" pick, let's talk facts for a second.

Dailyn Swain led Texas in scoring.

He led Texas in rebounding.

He led Texas in assists.

He led Texas in steals.

He led Texas in minutes played.

That's not normal.

And it's damn sure not luck.

You don't accidentally lead a major college basketball program in damn near every meaningful category.

That tells me one thing:

The kid affects winning.

And when you start looking at what Bryson Graham values in basketball players, the pick begins to make a little more sense.

Bryson Graham Has A Type

The more I thought about the Dailyn Swain selection, the more I kept coming back to a conversation I had with one of my best friends from way back in third grade.

A few years ago she told me I had a type.

Naturally, I immediately and vehemently denied it.

"I absolutely do not have a type."

She didn't argue.

In true Virgo fashion, she simply replied:

"You're right."

About 30 seconds later she sent me a picture of Sprite, 7-Up and Sierra Mist sitting on a table with the caption:

"When they say they don't have a type."

Let me help.

Bryson Graham has a type.

And Dailyn Swain might be the latest example.

Before arriving in Chicago, Graham spent years helping build rosters in Atlanta and New Orleans.

Let's look at some of the players those organizations identified, developed and valued.

In Atlanta, you have 6'8 Jalen Johnson and 6'7 Dyson Daniels.

In New Orleans, you have 6'8 Trey Murphy III and 6'7 Herb Jones.

Notice a pattern yet?

None of them are traditional stars in the classic sense.

They're long, athletic, switchable wings who defend multiple positions, impact winning in a variety of ways and make life miserable for opponents on both ends of the floor.

More importantly, they're exactly the type of players every NBA team is desperately trying to find.

There's a reason Herb Jones and Trey Murphy seem to be attached to trade rumors involving multiple first-round picks damn near every offseason.

There's a reason Dyson Daniels finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting at the end of the 24-25 season.

There's a reason Jalen Johnson has developed into one of the most valuable young forwards in basketball, securing his 1st All-Star selection and 3rd Team All-NBA this past season.

Those player archetypes matter.

A lot.

And when you watch Dailyn Swain, it's hard not to see why BG fell in love with him.

At 6'8, Swain brings exactly the traits Graham has historically valued: length, athleticism, defensive versatility, rebounding, playmaking and the ability to impact the game without needing 20 shots a night.

In other words?

He checks every single box Bryson Graham has been checking for years.

And if we're being honest, that strategy seems to be working pretty damn well.

So while many of us were sitting there waiting for Cameron Carr's name to be called, Graham was probably sitting in that draft room looking at Dailyn Swain and thinking:

"Yep. That's my type."

...and probably asking somebody to hand him a Sprite while he was at it.

The more I think about it, the more this pick starts making sense.

Trust Bryson...For Now

Look, we're not going to sit here and pretend we're fully sold.

Not yet.

Maybe Swain becomes an absolute steal.

Maybe he develops into one of the best two-way wings in this draft.

Maybe three years from now we're all praising Bryson for seeing something the rest of us missed.

That happens all the time.

But right now?

We're still asking questions.

And that's okay.

Because being skeptical doesn't mean you're being negative.

It means you're being honest.

Caleb Wilson feels like a home-run swing.

Dailyn Swain feels like Bryson Graham looking the entire basketball world dead in the eye and saying:

"Trust me."

So that's exactly what we're going to do.

Heavy emphasis on the "for now."

Because if Cameron Carr turns into an All-Star somewhere else, we're definitely revisiting this conversation.

But for today?

The Bulls got more athletic.
